Yellow Dragon Cave Tour | Underground Wonder in Zhangjiajie

Yellow Dragon Cave Zhangjiajie: Situated in the core scenic area of Wulingyuan, it is one of Asia's renowned karst caves. Characterized by its massive scale, the cave is densely adorned with stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars—typical karst landform features. 

Huanglong Cave (Yellow Dragon Cave)

Formed over 200 million years ago during the Triassic Period in carbonate rock strata, Huanglong Cave is a classic Karst landform consisting of three underground rivers and multi-level dry caves. The total cave length exceeds 15 kilometers, with a vertical height of 140 meters structured across a four-tier cave system. Currently, about 7.5 kilometers of tour routes are open to visitors, featuring 1 reservoir, 2 rivers, 3 pools, 4 waterfalls, 13 grand halls, 96 corridors, and thousands of spectacular cave formations. Honored as the "All-Around Champion of World Caves," its immense scale, breathtaking beauty, and diverse geological features are extremely rare in world history, offering exceptional scientific and aesthetic value.

By Car / Driving Directions

Depart from Zhangjiajie downtown and drive along Zhangqing Highway for approximately 30 kilometers. Follow the road signs to reach Huanglong Cave Scenic Area. A large parking lot is available on-site with free parking.

Public Transportation

Take a long-distance bus from Zhangjiajie downtown to Wulingyuan Bus Station, then transfer to Bus No. 1 and get off at the Huanglong Cave Station. Alternatively, take the scenic eco-bus directly from the Wulingyuan Landmark Gate (Biaozhimen).

08:00 – 17:30 (Last entry / ticket inspection closes at 17:30).

Estimated Tour Duration

A standard tour takes approximately 2–3 hours. For photography or a more in-depth experience, we recommend setting aside 3–4 hours.

Cave Temperature & Dressing Advice

The temperature inside the cave remains a constant 18°C – 22°C (64°F – 72°F) year-round. Bringing a light jacket is recommended, especially in summer when the temperature difference between inside and outside is significant.
